Taryn Cole In Earnest
Taryn Cole

Creator, Writer, Director, Co-DOP, Co-Editor

Taryn's first experience with acting was at age four, where she was flabbergasted to discover that she had to pretend that a man who wasn't her father, was her father. That led to the formation of Our Acting Alcove, comprised of a few friends and a flowered curtain strung across the middle of her bedroom. Simultaneously, she had fun making various film shorts and sad attempts at feature films. Around age ten she attempted to put on both original shows and Les Miserables, much to the chagrin of her siblings, who were press-ganged into her casts. She performed in school shows and during her latter high school years she was accepted into a year long musical theater company.

Her acting experience includesThe Pitmen Painters (Susan Parks), Independence (Jo), and Les Miserables (Gavroche). However, her passion is directing. Her most recent work directing, co-directing, or student-directing includes Tony-Award winning play RedThe Little Father of the Wilderness, pieces of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Dinner with FriendsThe Boys Next Door, and Degas, C'est Moi. In film, Taryn worked as a Production Assistant for Asleep in a Storm (2013), a camera operator for Northanger Abbey: A Novel (2013), and acted as the female lead for Unsearchable (2011). She has also worked with L.A. film and photography freelancer Blake Cyrier, as well as on shorts and various web videos. Taryn has trained with Tom Flynn (Wicked) and performed alongside Broadway's Ivan Rutherford (Les Miserables, Titanic).

Taryn is twenty-one years old and studies English, Secondary Education, and Communications. She works as a technician and Properties Manager at Pew Fine Arts Center. When she's not working, studying, or constantly at rehearsals either acting or directing, Taryn enjoys working as a freelance photographer, writing poetry or her baby of a novel, going to the gym, and pondering fantastical ways to meet her idol, Mary Beth Abel (long time stage manager of shows such as Wicked and Les Miserables).

Carly Straight In Earnest
Carly Straight

Creator, Writer, Transmedia Head, Craft Services

Carly first jumped into the world of acting in sixth grade when she performed in The Music Man. Her primary passion was with voice, and singing took up much of her high school career. She also enjoyed writing screenplays, though she's embarrased to look at them now. Her desire to earn money, however, prevented her from overloading on theater or film, unlike her other compatriots. Clearly she is the beautiful and wise one.

Carly is twenty two years old and studies English and Secondary Education. Her current work includes performing in street shows with the D.R.I.V.E. troupe, laboriously writing, editing, and being a grammar tyrant for beautiful creative works, and being the encouraging heart of In Earnest. She also spends time expertly navigating fandoms as well as fangirling over Oscar Wilde. She hopes to live in South Carolina with her two best friends, own a cat named Pounce, and show In Earnest to her future students and children.

Despite her skills with social media, Carly has chosen to not have a personal Twitter. You can contact her under the 'CONTACT tab on this website.

Ellen Pierson In Earnest Webseries
Rachel Pullen

Creator, Writer, Production Manager, Casting Director, Costumer

Rachel has been involved in theatre ever since that day in sixth grade when her sister forced her into it. But she’s very glad she did. She enjoys acting but finds the most joy in running things behind the scenes. Her acting experience includes parts in Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, and Bye Bye, Birdie.

Rachel has experience working in lighting and sound, but her love lies with the wardrobe department. She has managed costume production for multiple shows, including A Year With Frog and Toad, The Apple Tree, and Les Miserables. While film is a newer medium for her, she's excited to apply her costuming knowledge in the world of web series.

She is twenty years old and studies English. She has an affinity for organization, accounting, and scheduling, and uses those skills in at her multiple places of employment. One of her many jobs is working as a technician and Costumes Manager at Pew Fine Arts Center. When she's not working, she dabbles in photography, goes for long hikes through the hills, and does laundry while listening to music. She plans on finding a job where she can use her writing, editing, and organizational skills to serve behind the scenes in some capacity. She knows not where such a wish may take her, but hopefully it will be near her wonderful family.

Rachel is allergic to Twitter, YouTube, and personal websites, but you can reach her under the 'CONTACT' tab on this website. She also urges you to follow the show. She urges strongly.

Ellen Pierson

Co-DOP, Camera Operator, Co-Editor

Ellen started exploring the world of film editing at the tender and awkward age of thirteen - her mother gave her the gift of a green screen and a camcorder for Christmas. She then starred in and produced an ICarly-esque webshow (BingBangBong) which she now regrets (all records and episodes of said webshow have been wiped from the Internet to preserve the minds and souls of anyone who may have the misfortune of stumbling upon them). She began filming and editing for her personal YouTube channel with the intention of becoming a "big Internet sensation". Her skills expanded in her latter high school years and she worked as an editor and sound technician for film at her school.

Ellen is nineteen and studies secondary education and social studies. She spends time working in the theater on various stage crews and as a sound technician. She spends her days rocking out on the piano and guitar and she very much enjoys singing. Much of her time is filled with one-on-one time with Tumblr and Netflix, even when she knows her time would be better spent writing papers and plotting world domination.

She continues to film and edit videos for her YouTube channel and hopes to keep honing and improving her editing and filming skills. Her YouTube channel, Tumblr, and Twitter have each gained a respectable following. Ellen's life goal is to become a super intelligent rock star.

Cameron Holloway In Earnest Webseries
Cameron Holloway

Photographer

Cameron is a freelance photographer who currently specializes in newspaper and live theater photography. He has begun expanding into other areas of shooting, becoming more experienced in portrait photography. Cameron is largely self-taught, gaining knowledge quickly and making headway in the field despite his relative newness behind the camera. He admits he has an addiction to lenses, owning a collection much too large in comparison to how long he has been shooting. He brings his engineering mindset into his artistry with a camera, and his attention to detail in his work makes his photography unique. He currently works as a sound and lighting specialist technician for Pew Fine Arts Center.

Cameron is twenty years old and studies computer engineering. He'd like to join a startup business as well as continuing freelance work on the side. In his off time he enjoys working with electronics and coding, and he'll pick up a frisbee from time to time when he's not having fun experimenting with landscape photography.
